Skyrock POAs
hosts
Norco Junior Horsemen's Assoc.
We
all had a great time here at Skyrock Saturday, March 22, as we hosted the Junior
Club of the Norco Horsemen's Association. Their goal this year is to learn about
as many different breeds of horses as they can, so to this end, they are touring
ranches in the Southern CA area which breed various types of horses. Several
kids and "Grown-Ups" attended, and they learned about some of the
history of the POA and some of the foundation stallions and mares. We also
learned about what makes a POA a POA, and about Appaloosa characteristics and
color patterns. We then took a tour of the barn and got to meet some of the
ponies, and identify their coat patterns. The highlight was turning Bunny and
Shadow out into the round pen and watching him play. Shadow came right up to the
fence and made friends, and then we all went back into the house for
refreshments. Shadow did cause just a bit of concern when he lay down to nap and
wiggled himself half way under the fence, but he managed to get himself out of
it before rescue arrived, with not a scratch on him. All in all, a very nice
time, and hopefully the kids had fun and learned a little too!
Norco
Junior Horsemen's Assoc. visits Skyrock to learn about POAs.

Prince Earns His ROM(Halter)
Stoney
pulled it out of the hat again, scoring yet another Grand at this weekend's
Cal-State Show and Futurity, and earning more than enough points to qualify him
for his ROM(H). He also earned 5 other firsts and a host of placings, enough to
bring him to half way to his ROM(NT) and only 200 points shy of his ROM(T). K is
working hard to get this guy Supremed, and they are getting close!
Mr Dakota
Chisum - Supreme Champion
Dakota
has done it - our first Supreme! He and his rider acquired the last 14
points needed to qualify at the SCPOAC IBC Show held at Yucaipa on 3/31/07. It
was a very proud moment watching them take a victory lap while highlights of
their career were announced. Great job! We couldn't be more proud of this pair.
Now to file the paperwork...

First Bouncer
Filly Shown in 2007 at Her First Show Wins Res. Grand Champion Mare
Skyrock
Sienna is coming along brilliantly! Under the guidance of Stacy Lair, Sienna
(bay snowflake yearling) attended her first show on February 24th, which was an
IBC. Sienna won her class, won Junior Champion, and then took Reserve Grand
Champion over a field of very nice mares, some of whom hold National titles! We
are very pleased!

John Kennedy
Memorial Yearling Triad at
the 2006
Nationals
Dot
brought home the trophy for the first-ever John Kennedy Memorial Award, given to
the Over-All High Point Yearling at the POA National Futurities. Dot's combined
score from Halter, LungeLine and In-Hand-Trail topped the charts at this year's
Nationals. Congratulations to owner Jan B. Loveless of J-Bar Ranch and Nikki
Ferwerda, trainer.
Another
Skyrock Poster Pony!

Dazzle's
Sugar Babe is following in daddy Bouncer's hoof prints! This spectacular 2006
black few-spot filly was the centerfold poster pony in the popular German equine
magazine, "Pferde anzeiger", and also appears in a five page article
on POAs in Germany. Congratulations to Anina Weber, Sugar Babe's owner.

JBar
Bouncin Dot Com
(Ultimate
Bounce X CAs Sabrina)
2006 International
Yearling LongeLine Champion
The
first foal from Bouncer's first crop to show at an International has done us all
proud. JBar Bouncin Dot Com won the Yearling LongeLine class at the July 2006
International in St Louis MO. A beautiful bay few spot filly, Dot has had that
champion look since the day she was born. Congratulations to J-Bar Ranch and Jan
B. Loveless, owner, and Nikki Ferwerda who showed Dot to her Championship. Dot
also placed in Yearling In-Hand Trail, Most Colorful and had a placing
under the GOOD judge in Halter. Also - very good news for you folks looking for a potential champion
to add to your show string: CAs Sabrina has been checked in foal to Ultimate
Bounce for a full sibling due in 07. Give Jan a call!
Ultimate Bounce Representing
the POA Breed for Arabian Horse Assn. Poster

Bouncer is located in the middle of North America, standing
next to Dreamfinder.
Bouncer
has been chosen by the Arabian Horse Association to represent the POA Breed on
their Nationally distributed poster depicting horse breeds of the world
descended from Arabian blood. Black Hand, POA #1, was the first foundation
stallion of our breed and the pony upon whom the POA type was based. Black
Hand's dam was a half Arabian Appaloosa colored mare. We at Skyrock are deeply
honored that the AHA would consider Bouncer such a fine example of our breed.
These posters are currently available from the AHA.
Bouncer's
2007 Book includes:
-
RBR
Bunbeatable, Select Sire Futurity Champion
-
Queen Of
Aces, ROM(H)
-
Suncrest
Lullabye, International Champion
-
Miss
Lacey Snow, dam of multiple Champions
Please
contact us if you'd like your fine mare to join this line-up!
Ultimate Bounce
Competes
at the Cal-State Derby
Bouncer
does it again at the late August Cal-State Riding Derby for 4-5 year olds, he
won the Western Pleasure perpetual trophy. Competing with California's best, a
fine field of National caliber ponies, he pulled that fabulous lope out and
looked great with Stacy Lair aboard. Bounce previously won the English Pleasure
trophy, so we are very pleased to have his all-around ability proven with this
win. (He also placed Reserve Champion in the English Pleasure Derby!)
Stepp'n Out With A
Bounce
Wins Cal-State Futurity
Competing
in a field of excellent colts at the highly competitive Cal-State Futurity,
Bouncer's first son, Stepp'n Out With A Bounce, wowed the crowd with his
brilliant color and conformation by taking the Weanling Colt's Futurity
Championship. This is a true victory, as this futurity has been a proving ground
for many fine POAs and Select Sire Futurity winners and money earners. We are so
excited, almost as much as the Sanga family, Rascal's owners. This colt has a
fine future ahead of him.
Skyrock Sequoia Tee
N.W. Regional Champion
Weanling Colt, Res. World Champion
Skyrock
Sequoia Tee had a fine entrance to the world of showing at his first show, the
North West Regional held in early August. Here he easily took the Championship
with the guidance of Stacy Lair. At the POA World which followed the Regional,
he brought home the Reserve World Championship. Not too shabby for this fellow,
who has a ton of eye appeal and ring presence. At the height limit now, he will
be home until next season, when he'll be shown as a yearling in halter and
color, and maybe In-Hand Trail.
Western Classic and New
Homes for Skyrock Ponies
Skyrock
POAs attended the Western Classic in June 05, showing two ponies, Bouncer's
first foal, Skyrock Ruby Six, and show mare Gold's Mistie Acapella. Ruby had
only come for the ride, as the Niekirk's of OR were going to pick her up for
delivery to her new owner, Alyssa Brown of OR, but we ended up hurriedly
clipping and cleaning her up and stuck her in the fillies class. Bouncer's first
get at her first show was Champion Weanling Filly.

Bonnie
was ridden on Saturday in Costume and Games, and they turned out to be farewell
rides, because the Jenkins family of ID came down to UT to see Bonnie, and their
three boys just fell in love with her, and so Bonnie went home to ID where a new
chapter awaits her. Bonnie trailered 10 hours home without a peep and settled
right in - during an update phone call, we were told that Bonnie and the
Jenkins' 9-12 rider won Western Pleasure at their first show. Congratulations!

Ultimate Bounce Wins at the
World Again
Under
the guidance of Stacy Lair, Bouncer won both the 19 & Over Western Pleasure
class and the JPFC Western Pleasure class at the 2004 World Show in Colorado. We
are delighted with these important wins, as it shows Bouncer's all-around
excellence: not only is he pretty, but he rides, too!
Ultimate Bounce Achieves
ROM(H)
First in the Nation 3yo Stallions
We have wrapped up an
unbelievable year for Skyrock's stallions, and the topper is Bouncer standing at
#1 in the Nation for 3 yo Stallions. To make it better yet, he has earned his
ROM(Halter). We are so proud of him, and he just keeps getting better and
better. We have worked out a 2004 show schedule with trainer Stacy Lair, and
Bouncer will show local, State, World and National Futurities in JPFC, and we
fully expect him to do well.

California Futurity
Wins for Skyrock Stallions
First time out under
saddle for Ultimate Bounce has shown the POA crowd what we've known all along:
That boy can MOVE!
Placing third in the
Western Pleasure division, we were pretty happy with the result despite an
equipment failure that lowered his score. However, he made up for it in English
Pleasure, moving out with a fluidity that was really impressive, and brought
home the winning trophy.
Skyrock Skipper Twist
showed in the Yearling Halter Division of the Futurity, and brought home the
trophy too. He also scored big at the Ponyrama that the Futurities were being
held in conjunction with, taking home Grand Champion Stallion under both judges
and completely skunking Bouncer. Skipper is maturing into a fine young stallion.
First International Show
for Skyrock a
Big Success!
Ultimate Bounce and
Skyrock Skipper Twist really did Skyrock proud! At the 2003 International Show
in Shelbyville Tennessee, Ultimate Bounce won his Three-Year-Old Stallions
class, and then went on to win Senior Champion Stallion! Skipper took a Reserve
Champion in Yearling Colts, and a 5th (out of 15) in Lunge-Line - not too
bad for his second time out! - These placings earned Skipper the Small Stallion
Stakes Award!
Thanks to Stacy Lair at Competitor's Edge for fitting and showing 'the boys'.

Taking two colts to
the 2003 POA World Show in Spanish Fork, Utah, we are once again delighted with
the performance of our Ponies! Bouncer has claimed back-to-back titles, and our
yearling, Skyrock Skipper Twist, has also shown he has the 'Right Stuff'.

Sweep the
Grands at 2003 South West
Regional
and
2003 Rocky Mountain Regional
The 2003
South West Regional at Scottsdale proved a rewarding
experience for Skyrock. Two colts were fitted and shown,
Ultimate Bounce and Skyrock Skipper Twist, and they ended up going Grand and
Reserve Grand in the Stallions Division.
Both colts are headed
for the CA State shows as well as Southern CA's events, and are headed for the
World and the International this coming summer.
****************
The Rocky Mountain
Regional upheld our confidence in our boys, as they once again swept the Grands,
with Bouncer going Grand Champion Stallion, and Skipper taking Reserve Grand
Champion Stallion. Skipper also took Reserve Champion in Color and in Yearling
Lunge Line. The stakes were up there, as the RM Regional is the prelude to the
POA World, & we were happy to have them do
so well just before the "BIG" show!
They both looked
wonderful, fit and gorgeous, thanks to Stacy Lair, who has been conditioning
and handling them for Skyrock.
************
Bouncer has been
started under saddle, and Stacy reports he has wonderful movement. He
will be shown in the California Futurities at the end of August '03, and we have
plans for him to show JPFC in 2004.
Skipper is for sale,
(available after the World) but will of course continue to be shown until sold.
Skyrock has moved to
Norco, California
Skyrock POAs has
branched out into two divisions this summer. With a move to a
property in Norco, the stallions and show ponies will be stalled where training
and fitting can be intensified, and the broodmares will remain in Avocado
Heights where they will be brushed, patted and fed. We are very excited about
this move, and believe it will have a very positive impact on our program. Our
internet addresses will remain the same, and we can be emailed for new actual location
and contact information.

Miss Lacey
Snow
(St
Niks Snowstorm X JBJ's Design By Dude)
1996
sorrel few-spot mare

Lacey comes to us as a
large broodmare prospect. She is a homozygous few-spot mare, but has many more
credentials than her color. She is by noted sire St Nik's Snowstorm, sire of
JBJ's Firestorm and Miss Cinnamon Snow, as well as our own Driftwood Dixie. She
produced some very nice foals for Little Valley Oaks, notably LVO Respect This
Miss, and we are very happy to welcome her to Bouncer's band.
Suncrest
Lullabye
(Suncrest
Tattoo X Suncrest Forever Amber)
1999
bay with blanket & spots, star mare

Lullabye is a real
treasure for us as we've been trying to buy her for years. She is a daughter of
Suncrest Tattoo, World Champion and Int Res. Champion, and sire of multiple
World and International Champions, including Suncrest Magic Moment, JPFC Winner.
AND - Lullabye is out of the legendary Suncrest Forever Amber, dam of Supreme
Champions Suncrest Kandi Bar, Suncrest Big Mac and Suncrest DoughBoy. Wow.
Moreover, Lullabye has only been bred once - to Bouncer - and
that colt won the Cal-State Futurity the first time shown. AND - Lullabye
was shown as a young mare and was International Champion 2yo Mare. Thank
you to the Rachenok's for allowing us to purchase her. We are very excited to
add her to our broodmares! She will be bred to Bouncer for an '08
foal.
Zip N Chip
Prince
(Zip
N Gold X Miss Gold Chip)
2000
sorrel roan with blanket, spots, hind stocking and blaze gelding

Purchased at the 2006
Rocky Mountain Regional Sale from Chris McMullin of Utah, "Stoney" is
a very big boy, at 56" (PHC) and weighing in at about 1000 lbs, he will
easily carry any member of our family. Stoney is a full brother to JKB Zip's
Gold Nugget, World Champion and Res. International Champion palomino leopard
mare currently owned by the Turner family of California. Stoney had a very
successful early career, winning the Utah Select Sire Futurity, then going on to
be Utah State High Point Gelding as a Yearling and a Two-Year-Old, capturing
many Grands and Reserves. He was shown JPFC by Jordan Gardner and won the World
2yo JPFC Championship in Western Pleasure and was Reserve Champion in HUS, Trail
and 2yo Geldings. Jordan gave him a tune up before the Rocky Mtn Regional, and
Stoney won all the 19 & Over classes he entered.
We are very grateful to
Chris McMullin for allowing us to purchase Stoney at the Sale. Thanks also to
Jordan Gardner for the tune-up and for helping us with our first ride on Stoney,
and for the tips on his personality. Stoney is now home in Norco, checking out
the girls and thinking about liking the dogs.
Queen of Aces
(Santee
Ace X Royal Shamrock)

This very fine
chestnut leopard mare is on breeding lease to us from Carol Keegan of Keegan
Performance Horses. We are thrilled to have such a quality mare to breed to
Bouncer, and even more thrilled that Carol thinks enough of our stallion to want
a breed-back to him when it's time for Queen to go home. This mare has more
Grand Championships than you can count and has her ROM in Halter. She is broke
to ride, but has been busy producing top quality foals for Carol. Please watch
for Queen's 2007 foal by Ultimate Bounce.
RBR
Bunbeatable
(JKA
Supreme Scooter X Dee's Diable QT)

Bunny
upon her arrival at Skyrock
We
are very excited at this purchase, and would like to thank Donna & Leon
Chastain for allowing us to buy Bunny. Bunny is a large very sweet mare bred by
the Bagwells of OK, sired by JKA Supreme Scooter. She is a bay near-leopard. As a weanling, Bunny won the
Select Sire Futurity, and her numerous siblings have been red hot at the
shows. Her half brother RBR Bunbelievable was 2005 World Champion 3yo
Stallion. The first Bunny/Bouncer cross will be due in 2007 ... we can hardly
wait!
Mr
Dakota Chisum ROM(H)
(JW
Chisum X World Of Pleasure)
Dakota at his 2yo In Hand Train Win, POAC International
Dakota
upon his arrival at Skyrock
Dakota is a four year
old chestnut sno-cap gelding with four stockings and a big blaze, and our new
Jr.Pony. He already has his ROM(H) and he won the International 2yo In-Hand
Trail class. We purchased him from the Wentland family of MN, and we are so
happy to have him here at last! The Wiest family picked him up from the IA POA
Sale for us, and say he is such a sweet boy, and even on his first day, we can
tell that's so. Plans for Dakota begin with Jr. Pony classes next season, and a
trip to the World Show (OR) in August. The best news: he's perfect for our
Costume - No Spots!
Dakota's sire, JW
Chisum, a producer of numerous International class winners, is a son of
East Acres Tough To Beat by East Acres Double Tough (Premiere Sire, ROM(NT)
ROM(T)). Tough To Beat also sired East Acres Chip O Tough and Double Shot.
We are very excited
to add Dakota to our barn. Thank You Don & Mary Wentland!

RedHot ChiliPeppr
(Ultimate
Bounce X Driftwood Dixie) May '06

This
is Pepper at 17 mos. what a balanced build! She looks like a mature pony
already.
This cute filly is
going to be another Dixie! She will be a great 8 & Under and 9-12
pony. Pepper has pizazz yet is friendly, always nickers and comes up to be
petted. She is currently
sorrel,
and will eventually roan out like her mom. She also has very
handy movement, and a sweet lope. We expect her to mature
right around 13.2 or 3, with a sturdy build. Her sire and dam are both International and World
Champions (see Mare's page and Bouncer's page) and I can't say enough
about Dixie - the ultimate 8 & Under pony.
In my opinion, Pepper will be better! She'll be super cute on the
rail and has the power and agility for games and over fences. She also has the
potential for breeders: for those looking to improve their broodmare band
- a daughter of Ultimate Bounce, with St Nik's Snowstorm on the bottom!
Pepper has been SOLD!
Congratulations to the Deaville Family of Lake Elizabeth, and Good Luck with
Pepper!
"Skyrock
Sienna"

(foaled
5/22/06) A
lovely bay filly with a star and characteristics, Sienna has all the earmarks of
a fabulous rail pony: great legs, long neck and sweet movement. She also
has a pretty head with a sweet face. Skyrock Copper Penny, Sienna's Dam, is a bay snowflake, so we
expect Sienna to come up with some spots as she grows. This is a real good one,
and a great way to wrap up the season!
update:
Sienna has white spots popping up all over! She is a true "snowflake"
pattern and we expect much more color to come!

Golden Shadow

2001 Golden
Palomino Quarter Cross Mare
Shadow
has been Sold!
This stunningly
colored 14.3 hand mare is every girl's dream! Sweet and willing, she is very
much a "people horse", loving attention. She has been
professionally started under saddle, is currently in training, and we feel she would be great for an
upper level Pony Clubber looking for a project, a 4Her, a teen or
lady who trail rides or shows Open, or a lighter gentleman looking for a
flashy ride. Shadow is very fancy with her gold
coat, white mane and long tail, blaze and 3 socks. She also has fancy
movement, and would look super cute over fences. She will get you noticed
and will always be the prettiest horse in the crowd, whether you're trail
riding, showing or leading the parade. Shadow also has nice conformation
and would cross well for Sport Pony or half Arab. Shadow is sound, current on all
shots, including WN and strangles, wormings and trims, and has recently had her teeth done by Brian
Borg AED, so she is fit and ready to go to a great new home!
Skyrock
Bouncin' Jack Brown
(Ultimate
Bounce X Skyrock Copper Penny)

Jack
has been SOLD!
Congratulations to
Brittany B. of Norco. Have fun with Jack! He's a great pony!
This black bay
gelding has exceptional conformation and style. Jack will eat up the
competition in English and jumping. His form at a jump during play is
breathtaking, and he has the same gorgeous movement Bouncer has. He is
also quite the character, playing with his arena toys and drawing a crowd
at our fence! You'll always be amused by this pretty gelding, when he's
not busy winning all the trophies at every show!
Sire Ultimate
Bounce is a multiple Regional Grand Champion, International Champion,
multiple World Champion, Western and English Futurity Winner and #1 3yo
Stallion in the Nation. Grandsire Bounce Back Jack is an
International Grand Champion by ApHC Another Bounce and out of OZs
Sweet Speculation- twice International Grand Champion Mare and in the
POA Hall of Fame. Dam Skyrock Copper Penny is a Hardship
Registered mare, by a Quarter Horse of Waggoner and Three Bars
breeding and out of a black leopard Appaloosa mare. Penny has had
very limited showing due to lack of a rider, but has Regional Halter
Points (placed over the then current World Champion mare).
Dually's
Dazzling Star
(Dual
Plaudit X Miss LA Rock Star)

A very good young
broodmare, who produced a black with blanket filly in '05 (see Skyrock
Ruby Six at bottom of page and on 'updates' page) and is bred back the
same way to Ultimate Bounce for June 06. This mare throws black and will
always throw color, as she is a sno-cap. She has excellent breeding:
Dazzle is a granddaughter of ApHC Rock Star, a leading sire of Halter and
performance Champions, World Champions and Medallion Winners, who is by AQHA
World Champion Skippa Star. Dazzle's
dam, Miss LA Rock Star,
is Abdull's Pok-A-Son bred on the bottom.
Dazzle's Sire, Dual Plaudit,
International Grand Champion Stallion, is the sire of Quicksilver Deuce, Int'l
Champion Sm. Stallion ROM(H); Dual Sensation, Int'l Res. Grand Champion Mare; X-RDs
Margarita, high-point 3yo mare and ROM(H); and Traces of Lace, high-point
yearling filly and ROM(H) - just to name a very few. Dual Plaudit is by POA legend Plaudit's Crusader, and is out of Ruth's famous
mare, HIS Fancy Feather, dam of many World and International Champions,
including His Signal Fire, International Grand Champion Gelding, and the noted sire HIS Fancy Carbine.
Dazzle
has been SOLD!
to Anina Weber of
Germany. Dazzle will join Anina's small but growing broodmare band, where
she will play her part in founding the German line of POAs. We are
all crossing our fingers for a black few spot or sno-cap colt to be
Anina's herd sire. We are sorry to see Dazzle go, but it looks like she is
going on to bigger and better things.
Good Luck,
Anina!
